Our approach

We follow each coder's interests, with room to experiment, make mistakes and learn at their own pace. The aim is to make coding enjoyable, without a fixed programme or pressure to achieve a particular result.

We welcome all experience levels. Coders can explore a Raspberry Pi Foundation project or bring an idea of their own for our volunteers to help with. Some enjoy trying something new each session; others prefer developing the same project over time.

So far, coders have built micro:bit robots, created Scratch projects, and used micro:bits to make games and music. What we work on depends on what interests them. Tell us if your coder has a particular project in mind or finds something too easy or difficult, so we can help them find a good next step.

Our background

We started in February 2025 and have helped more than 50 young coders. The idea grew from our founder's experience of discovering coding at a young age: it was fun because it was something they wanted to do, without pressure to achieve a particular result.

We wanted to create an inclusive space where coders could discover that enjoyment for themselves, and encourage more girls to explore technology and see a place for themselves in a field where women are underrepresented.

That idea led us to approach Barbican Children's Library and register the club with Code Club, part of the Raspberry Pi Foundation. With the library's support and funding, we secured laptops and equipment to help bring the club to life.

Our volunteers

A bigger team means more support for our coders. If you enjoy technology, bring patience and like helping others explore their ideas, we'd love you to join us.

  • We currently have six volunteers.
  • Our volunteers are STEM Ambassadors with experience across a range of industries.
  • All volunteers are DBS checked for your coder's safety.
